If there’s anyone out there who might read my blog, please note that I’m very indecisive and have therefore, changed my blog name to something completely different. I like my new name better, so if you would like to continue reading my posts, please visit my new blog, http://happinessisblonde.com/
It was rainy out today, so I decided if the day was going to be ugly, I’d at least try to make my face look semi-decent. I’ve experimented with cream shadows before and it’s hard to find ones I really like, but I did find a primer I love and that’s NYX Eye Shadow Base. It always keeps my powder eyeshadows on really well. So, even if you’re not a cream shadow kind of girl, it still makes a great primer. They have it in Whiteor Skin Tone. I prefer the white one for making my own cream shadows out of. Anyway, they stay on all day. Plus, you don’t have to buy a whole pot of just one color. I used the small round containers (that are meant for beads) so that I can make just enough shadow for a day or two. Then, I don’t get sick of just one color and realize I have a whole container of it left to use. You can make as little or as much as you want and it can be the exact shade you want depending on how much powder or base you add.
Scrape out the powder you want to use. And remember, the color is going to come out lighter, so add extra powder if you want the shade darker.
Mix it up!
It’s super easy and makes it a lot cheaper by not having to buy whole pots of just one color. You could do something different every day and save yourself some cash. And plus, it’s fun to experiment!
I was experimenting with braiding last night because I need a way to keep my hair out of my face during hot 105 degree weather in the summer. You may end up using about 105 bobby pins (slight exaggeration), but this kept my hair up all day long!
Hair Tie- try to find one that’s around the color of your hair in case it shows.
Here’s what you do:
1) Part your hair and separate it into the two sections. Personally, I think this style is cuter if you part one side over into a more deep part so it’s more asymmetrical and not so put-together.
2) French braid each side moving from the front of your head slightly downward so it almost frames your hairline (if that makes sense)
3) Once you’re done with both sides, tie them together into a bun. Just do it how you would start a ponytail, but don’t pull all the hair through.
4) Start pulling pieces and randomly bobby pinning them down so it looks a little messy. Just pull them around and play with it however you think it needs to look. You can also just put it in a ponytail and curl it or wave it. If your hair is pretty long, this would work well.
I have slightly naturally wavy hair so I’m always trying to find new ways to enhance my waves. I saw this at a salon and decided to try it out. I LOVE it! It’s perfect if I don’t have a lot of time to style my hair while it’s wet because all you have to do is put about a dime size amount in your palm, rub it in your hands, and run it through your hair. After that you just scrunch your hair and by the time it’s dry, you have soft, natural waves and you smell like heaven! It costs around $15 but with the small amount you have to use it’s totally worth it because it lasts forever and ever and ever! (well, maybe not forever) It’s definitely a great buy if you’re the type of person who likes simple and quick hairstyles. I will definitely keep buying this to keep my waves in tact.
Who doesn’t love white shorts? These are so comfy and they’re perfect to wear cute belts with and tuck-in tops. Speaking of tops, I found the top at Marshalls and fell in love with it. Besides the lace, the top is made out of a really soft kind of T-shirt material. The sandals are my favorite part of the whole outfit. I got them at Charming Charlie and immediately had to have them because they jingle! Everywhere I go, people can hear me from a mile away, but I don’t care because they’re so freaking cute! Anyway, how do you like my outfit?
I make my palette on the top of a nail polish bottle and get my bobby pin ready.
This is one of the easiest things you can do to paint your nails so they don’t look too boring. All I did was open up a bobby pin and use each end for a different color. (bobby pins make perfect dots) Then, I made several dots on each toe in each color. I switched off the colors by using pink then plum then pink then plum etc. until my toesies were all covered. I also realized the polish lasts about a week longer than wearing one solid color. So, they look cutesy and they last!
Go ahead, let your mouth water. It looks good, doesn’t it? Know that I’m typing this with a brownie in hand. This is not just any brownie. It’s Ghirardelli and it’s from the Ghirarelli Triple Chocolate Brownie Mix which we buy in bulk. I vote these the best boxed brownies ever. They taste as good as they look.
This is my favorite dress ever. Well, maybe for now at least. It’s made out of T-shirt material and it’s so comfy for the hot summer. As most of my clothes are, it’s from Kohls. And a side note about Kohls: get their credit card because you get tons of offers in the mail all year. I get tons of stuff super cheap because of the coupons they send. I actually think I buy more because of it. (they’re very sneaky that way) Oh well! It doesn’t really matter because everything is a deal.
I’m usually a flats kind of girl, but I decided to change things up a bit because I love my wedge heels (even though I only wear them once in while because my toes tend to lose oxygen with them on). They always make me feel girly without feeling too dressed up. The dress, shoes, and purse were all on sale for at least 25% off each when I got them. The James Avery earrings and Brighton Key Chain were gifts and I love them so so much! So, how do you like my outfit?
Last summer I realized I love vintage purses. Actually, I love anything vintage. I don’t care how much it’s worth. If it looks old and cute, I like it. I’m starting a collection of vintage purses and this is one of them. I found it at a little antique shop when I was visiting Rockport, Texas. It was about $15 and I simply couldn’t pass it up. I love the beaded detail and the color. It’s just too cute! If I could have lived in any other time besides the present, I would have lived back when these were brand new. Love love love vintage!
